A Lust for Life is an award-winning Irish well-being movement, created to transform how we talk about and treat mental health. Role title: Director

Accountable to: Chair of Board

Employment: Full time

Role objectives:

  • Take holistic ownership for the successful delivery of A Lust for Life’s strategic objectives
  • Provide strong empathic leadership to all A Lust for Life employees
  • Ensure all A Lust for Life activity is consistent with and supportive of A Lust for Life’s vision, mission and values

Role responsibilities:

  • Operate as positive, authentic and passionate Ambassador for A Lust for Life and its work
  • Define annual A Lust for Life strategic plan and operational plan for board sign-off
  • Lead to ensure delivery against defined A Lust for Life strategic and operational objectives
  • Pro-actively represent A Lust for Life for media/events/speaking gigs/fundraising activity
  • Provide effective and empathic leadership to all A Lust for Life employees and contractors
  • Ensure a high-impact authentic team wellness plan is in place for the A Lust for Life organisation
  • Pro-actively identify opportunities to innovate & enhance impact of A Lust for Life
  • Work pro-actively with Head of Partnerships to identify, champion and secure sustainable sources of funding for A Lust for Life
  • Fully brief and effectively engage A Lust for Life Board members where their engagement in any A Lust for Life activity is required
  • Ensure strong long term trust-based communication and relationships with all A Lust for Life stakeholders
  • Drive internal education (board & organisation) on mental health trends & issues
  • Ensure the effective management and engagement of volunteers providing support to A Lust for Life
  • Maintain strong pro-active awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that may affect A Lust for Life
  • Establish appropriate mechanisms to elicit external feedback on the impact of A Lust for Life
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders e.g., A Lust for Life ambassadors, mental health thought-leaders, other mental health charities, the media, government etc.
  • Manage relationship with CRA, CRO, A&L Goodbody & other 3rd parties
  • Engage with A Lust for Life accountants and auditors to fulfil all accounting and audit requirements
  • Ensure effective A Lust for Life financial budgeting, forecasting & reporting (with A Lust for Life Treasurer)
  • Ensure A Lust for Life compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the relevant HR policies are in place for A Lust for Life
  • Regularly report on organisational progress to A Lust for Life board

Personal Profile

  • A deep commitment to and passion for A Lust for Life’s vision, mission, values
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and delivery
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong knowledge of and network in mental health area and/or voluntary sector
  • Demonstrable evidence of delivery with innovation and creativity
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent, empathic communication and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrable evidence of high personal integrity
